MOBILE MEDICAL CLINIC 2019

Waiting…

Waiting…

Last summer, out of a “chance” meeting with an old friend in Guatemala - we connected with an organization Hope Worldwide Guatemala that runs a mobile medical clinic

- and they were willing to go to Chiquimula!

In fall 2018 - you all helped to sponsor the clinic to go to the school and in 3 days they saw about 120+ patients.

This was so well received by the community - and they asked for it again,

This summer we took it a step further:

  • We brought some incredible willing volunteers with great big h(e)arts

  • We fundraised

  • We gathered supplies, vitamins, medicine, and even a wheelchair and brought them with us for this clinic.

  • We helped run the 2nd mobile medical clinic here at the Shusho Abajo School in Chiquimula.

  • We spent 3 days in the school loving, laughing, crying, and sweating because it is so hot :)

Hope Worldwide Guatemala is an incredible partner! They brought their mobile medical clinic and amazing staff - including Dr. Dorita - to the school to see over 120 patients and their families again. Their h(e)arts were impacted by this community and they do this all the time, in many communities. There is something special about Chiquimula…

Our team consisted of:

  • A retired fireman taking vitals and making connections with each person

  • A Guatemalan physician + 4 Staff member of Hope Worldwide Guatemala to coordinate and run the medical clinic.

  • 2 Chiropractors (1 from US and 1 from Guatemala) to help the children and adults with injuries due to physical labor

  • A Dietitian to provide vitamins and nutrition consults for malnutrition - Over 50% of children in Guatemala are malnourished.

  • Social workers, Teachers, People with a willing h(e)art, and Students to help organize the clinic, play and learn and build relationships, clean, pass out snacks, teach dental hygiene and provide fluoride treatments.

To make the clinic more impactful, we arranged for:

  • A mobile lab to come and take lab tests that were needed

  • A local pharmacy who would deliver medications

  • A colonoscopy for one gentleman who was found to have severe ulcers

Word quickly spread through the community,

and the entire 3 days we had a line out the door… think about that…out the door of a school where people had set up a mobile medical clinic.

Our h(e)arts were broken over and over with the many people who came looking for care - Care that was needed for issues well beyond what a community medical group can handle.

Please pray for these people who need further care. Pray we can connect them with the proper care and have the resources to help provide what is needed. Donate if you have a h(e)art to come alongside these people and offer some opportunities for care.

Our goal is to work with these individuals to arrange more advanced care in their community after our medical clinic. We will need your help!
